Viajes con mis Padres

After a week of the worst class I have ever taken, Research Methods and some interesting UPeace happenings, such as the moanings of the Vagina Monologues, I ventured off to meet my parents at the beach. We went to Manuel Antonio where the fun never ends. We went hiking in the park and spent lots of time monkey watching. According to my mom, they look amazingly like people. Where does she come up with this stuff? Then we hit the waves. Never turn your back on the ocean! A few swells snuck up on my parents and they went from standing up to floating flat on their backs in the white wash. Twice. Hilarious once I made sure they were ok.

In efforts not to be the typical tourists, we ventured 20km out into the boonies of Costa Rica to a little organic farm. The lady who ran the place was some combination of insane and brilliant and kept ranting about the foreign ownership of the Federal Reserves and the collapse of the US as we know it. Let's hope she's wrong...??? She gave us a paper drawn map to follow and we drove down a sketchy rode and hiked up and even sketchier one to a hidden wonder of 4 waterfalls and a swimming hole.

We also discovered what is arguably the best restaurant in Costa Rica on their opening night. The spectacular dinner with drinks and desert cost all of 16$. In the morning we got a tour of the farm. We learned how to pollunate vanilla, smelled cinnamon and allspice trees, and felt a plant that they make car wax out of all while watching colorful macaws circle overhead. All in All, it was a great weekend and a good time with mom and dad. And I didn't have to pay for a thing :). See pictures here.
