Pura Vida Goodbye

For the open mic night and Holiday fesitval in Ciudad Colon, we decided to write a song to say our goodbyes to everyone. We then performed on stage in the town plaza for anyone to hear! I won't say that we sounded good, but it was pretty darn amazing anyways! Here are the lyrics to the NRSD farewell song to the tune of American Pie, hum along as you read, it's much better that way!

A long long time ago,
we can still remember,
how the DC weather made us frown

But we knew that if we had the chance
that we could go party and dance
in this beautiful Costa Rican town

In January we were newbies,
but we were welcomed here at UPeace
We're all old and wise now
and must take our final bow

We can't remember what we read
Or anything our professors said
Our papers made professors cry
Maybe we should have tried

So bye bye pura vida goodbye
gallo pinto and batidos
que te pasa mae
And all those nights drinkin Imperial Light
Singing this old song to say our goodbye,
This is how we say our goodbye.

Do you believe in peace and love
and do you believe that trees can hug
if NRSD tells you so
Our field trips here have run us dry
our orientation made us cry
but, leaving you, makes us feel real low.

We hope your view of the worlds more vivid
from email wars that made us livid
in the halls the workers screamed,
Don't steal our forks you feinds!

We were extraneros just makin friends
with many cultures that we aimed to blend
we hope that we did not offend
and now, our journey ends.

We started singin'

Bye bye pura vida goodbye
gallo pinto and batidos
que te pasa mae
And all those nights drinking Imerial Light
singin this old song to say our goodbye,
This is how we say our goodbye.

(Repeat)

I hope that you all take your pura vida experience and change the world with it... Everyone I met there, I have fond memories of and I can feel your sadness in your song. It makes me sad that it is over and glad you will be home. Bittersweet as is life.
