Muy Bien

What a crazy adventure. Not even sure where to begin on this post but since I am in an internet cafe with a crazy keyboard and expensive rates, Ill keep it short and try to minimize the grammatical errors. We are in Tamarindo and loving it.

We left Mal Pais on Sunday and bused over to Monteverde. We set up camp for FREE right on the beach. It was excellent. Then we hiked to the waterfalls just outside of town. So much fun. The first was 80ft with a big pool to swim in and some cliffs to jump off. You could swim and climb right under the falls and get a massage from the water at the same time. Then Cristina and I hiked up a ridiculously steep trail to two other falls, with more cliffs to jump off and a rope swing! We had a blast. There will be some hilarious pictures in about a week for your viewing pleasure. The hike back down was intense. We were sliding on our buts the whole way because of course we were wearing flip flops and trying to walk down a dirt cliff. Good times. We spent all day at the falls because it was just that awesome. Then we went back to the main beach in town, ran into our friend Jeff from school (small country) and grabbed some dinner in town. Before bed I laid on the beach for about an hour and watched the stars. It was amazing because it was so dark and the ocean sounds were in the background and there were tons of shooting stars. Ok, well about 6 but that seemed like a lot.

The next morning we took things slow, got some delicious breakfast and then caught the bus out of town. It took us a day of traveling to make all our bus and ferry connections and we ended up having to stay in a town, Santa Cruz, about an hour from our next destination because it takes so long to travel around here! There are lots of tourist shuttles, but they are way overpriced, so we are taking it the slow route on buses. The place we stayed was literally an old horse stall in a barn. It was hilarious. There was blood on one of the beds. Totally sketchy. We were glad to have our own bedding. And the owner would only talk to Cristina because he thought she was a tico. He kept saying how he didnt like Americans so Katie and I tried to keep a low profile. In the morning, we got out of there as quick as possible and we caught an early bus to Tamarindo where we are now.

When we got here, we were looking for a place to stay because there is no camping and a guy pulled up in a jeep and asked us if we needed a place. He looked nice enough and had a kid in the car so I talked to him, got the scoop, and the next thing we knew we were in his car on the way to an awesome apartment for 30$ a night. Totally a dad move. There is a balcony with a awesome view of the ocean and amazing sunsets, a pool, hammocks, a kitchen, AC. Its outta control! We are getting totally spoiled. And then we met our neighbor, Ben, who has been living here for about 2 years, knows everyone, and is showing us around. Today he drove us to a beach south of town where we did some amazing boogy boarding. Last night we went out and meet all the gringos living and working here and found a free place to stay this weekend when we cant stay in our awesome apartment. Not to shabby.
